The Township is served by its own Police and Fire Departments. Upper Chichester is one of 4 Municipalities in the Chichester School District.

The Living Memorial Garden was developed in a wooded area on Furey Road in Upper Chichester, PA. It is a peaceful setting with touching tributes from parents whose children’s lives have been taken.

Pennsylvania Act 44 was signed by the Governor in September, 2009. It amended Act 205. Specifically, Chapter 7-A of Act 44 requires the disclosure of certain information about any professional advisors receiving compensation for services provided to a municipal pension plan.

The Planning Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of the month, 7:30 PM at the Upper Chichester Municipal Building.
The Board of Health Department meets on the first Monday of the month, 6:30 PM at the Upper Chichester Municipal Building.
The Planning Commission acts in advisory capacity to the Township Commissioners to review subdivision and land development plans. The Commissioner's core purpose is to assure compliance with our local building and zoning rules and regulations.
The purpose of the Upper Chichester Township Board of Health Department is to preserve, protect, and promote the health of the residents of Upper Chichester.

Zoning Hearing Board
The Recreation Committee meets on the third Wednesday of the month, 7:00 PM at the Upper Chichester Municipal Building.
The Zoning Hearing Board meets on the first Wednesday of the month, 7:30 PM at the Upper Chichester Municipal Building.
The general purpose of the Recreation Committee is to assist the Recreation Director with the planning, implementation, and development of the recreation programs and events.
The purpose of the Zoning Hearing Board is to help assure fair and equitable application and the administration of the zoning ordinance by hearing appeals of the Zoning Officer's decisions and by granting relief from literal enforcement of the ordinance in certain situations.
The Board is judicial body and may not make or modify zoning policy. The Board schedules hearings on applications and appeals, and hears evidence and issues written decisions or findings of fact.

Recreation here at Upper Chichester offers several events & activities for all ages throughout the year.
The Public Works Department consists of Highway & Sanitation. View trash schedules, recycling requirements, and several other services our Highway/Sanitation provides in the Township.

The Upper Chichester Department of Parks & Recreation has grown through the years to include various adult activities and several children programs including summer camp.
Memberships are available to Upper Chichester residents ONLY. Cost is Free. Proof of residence is necessary to obtain a membership. There are no guest passes. You MUST have a membership to enter the field house. Any child under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Trash
REGULAR TRASH should be placed on the
sidewalk near the curb in front of the house in
such manner as not obstruct passage on the
sidewalk no earlier than the night before and no later than 6:00 AM the day of collection. Trash and garbage should be secured so the winds will not clutter your property or that of your neighbors.
Contents should not exceed 40 lbs. and the containers should be no more than 30 gallons. Rolled items such as carpet must be no longer than 3 feet in length, not to exceed 25 lbs. in weight. Loose boards, no longer than 3 feet in length, must be bundled and tied. Hypodermic needles must be disposed in a rugged container (e.g.: coffee can) and sealed before placing in the trash. Glass and mirrors should taped, boxed, and marked for safety.

BULK TRASH pick ups are available February through October every non-recycle week. If you have large items, such as washer, dryer, furniture, etc. you need to dispose of you will need to schedule for a pick up. There is a $25 fee for each truck (Burnable & Metal) that must be paid prior to the pick up date. Payments must be paid by check or cash.

Recycling: "It's a matter of dollars and "sense"!
Your recycling efforts are encouraged. First Class Townships are required
to recycle under State Law. PLEASE GET INVOLVED! Your efforts help us
as a community to increase our volume and tonnage, which increases money reimbursed to the Township by the State under the 904 Performance Grant. For more information on recycling click
New recycle bins are available to all residents. The cans are 65 gallons with wheels and attached lid. Each can comes with a 10-year guarantee. If your can should break, bring it to the Township Building for replacement. Stop up today to for your new bin. Township will arrange for delivery.

Attention Residents,
Does someone living within your residents require the assistance of others to evacuate should there be an emergency within your residents? If so, the Office of the Fire Marshal & Emergency Management would like to hear from you. Some examples of persons requiring the assistance of others include; wheelchair bound, blind, deaf, mobility impaired, bedridden, or have cognitive or development disorders.
Once received by this office, the information you provide will be forwarded to the DE County 9-1-1 center for entry into the computer database. The 9-1-1 center will in turn relay this information to emergency responders.
Should you wish to have this information entered into the
9-1-1 computer system, complete the Special Needs form and return to the Township Bldg via fax, mail, email or simply drop off.

Fire Marshal
The Mission of the Upper Chichester Township Fire Marshal's office is to preserve life and property from fire, explosion and other related hazards through fire prevention, safety education, code enforcement, and fire investigation.
Emergency Management
To protect the lives, property and environment of the people of Upper Chichester Township from the threat or occurrence of emergencies resulting from any natural or man-made disaster, including but not limited to flood, fire, hazardous material release, windstorms, hurricanes, terrorism, earthquake, tornadoes, drought, snow storms and ice storms. The preparation for carryting out all emergency functions shall be accomplished through the four phases of emergency management:
Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery
Activities to meet this end include coordination, planning, training, drills, and exercises.

Recycling Recycling
Glass : clear, green or brown glass bottles and containers. Remove lids and rinse. Window glass & mirrors are not acceptable. Cans : Aluminum, steel, and tin cans. No foil or food trays. Plastics : Milk bottles, detergent bottles; plastic used for beverages. All plastics can be recycled if the neck of the container is smaller than the bottom. Paper : Newspaper, paper bags, magazines, junk mail, catalogs, corrugated containers (no wax coating), cardboard boxes
